November, 19 is marked as the World Day for the Elimination of Violence against Children, and on November 20, 2022, it will be 22 years since the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Violence against children is still a significant problem of our time given the prevalence of the phenomenon and the consequences on child development. The Child Protection Act postulates the inalienable right of every child to grow up in a peaceful and healthy environment free from violence. Therefore, it is the responsibility of society – the family, the school, the community – to take preventive and educational measures in this direction.
On this occasion, the Local Commission for Combating Antisocial Activities of Minors and Juveniles – Shumen Municipality and Sports Chess Club “Shumen” organized a rapid tournament under the title “No to violence against children”. Competitors were divided by age into two separate tournaments: Tournament A (U12 years and U16) and Tournament B (U8 and U10). After 5 rounds of competitive play, medals and prizes were awarded to:
U16: Magdalena Stoyanova, Kaan Tefikov and Pavel Petkov;
U12: Vitomir Arnaudov, Nikolay Nedelchev, Zhivko Kaloyanov;
U10: Norair Shahbazyan, Velin Simeonov, Tonislav Tonchev;
U8: Ivan Pisev, Hakan Akhmedov, Pavel Paraskevov.
All participants received commemorative certificates.
