On 7.10.2023, under ideal playing conditions, the tournaments of the “Chess Seasons” series, in their autumn edition, were held in the Chess House of SCC “Shumen”, and in the yard in front of it. A total of 72 young chess players participated in both tournaments.
After 7 rounds were played, the first five in every age category took the following form:
up to 8 years: 1. Dimitar Marinov (CC “Sinite Kamani”) / 2. Georgi Hristov (CSKA) / 3. Boyan Manev (CC “Dunav 1931”) / 4. Samuil Borisov (SCC “Shumen”) / 5. Boris Angelov (CC “Varna”);
up to 10 years: 1. Velin Simeonov (SCC “Shumen”) / 2. Stoyan Iliev (CC “Varna”) / 3. Nikolay Todorov (CC “Kaisa”) / 4. Ivan Pisev (SCC “Shumen”) / 5. Miroslav Dimitrov (CC “Kaisa”);
up to 12 years: 1. Ege Esmer (SCC “Shumen”) / 2. Kristiyan Alexandrov (CC “Varna”) / 3. Kaloyan Hristev (CC “Kaisa”) / 4. Norair Shahbazyan (SCC “Shumen”) / 5. Teodor Georgiev (SCC “Shumen”);
up to 14 years: 1. Ildana Kantserova (Kazakhstan) / 2. Alexander Petkov (CC “Shumen”) / 3. Ivo Ivanov (CC “Pristis”) / 4. Zheko Hadjiivanov (SCC “Shumen”) / 5. Velislav Slavov ( SCC “Shumen”).
According to the regulations, everyone received certificates of participation, the first five in each age – commemorative prizes, and the first three – medals – all presented by the executive director of SCC “Shumen” IM Atanas Dimitrov. We congratulate Ege Esmer and Velin Simeonov for their first places, as well as all our other pupils, some of whom almost missed out on a higher prize ranking such as Teodor Georgiev, Ivan Pisev, Samuil Borisov. We remind them that hard work and persistence in training is well rewarded, as their teammates showed them. Once again, we express our gratitude to the guests of the club from the already traditional Ruse, Varna, Sliven, Razgrad and Targovishte, for respecting us with their presence and their game, and we invite them to the next tournament of the Series, “Chess Winter”, on 2.12.2023.
