First tournament of “Chess Seasons” for 2023 – “Chess Spring”

On 22-23.04.2023, we had a successful start to the “Chess Seasons” 2023 Rapid Chess Tournament Series with its first edition, “Chess Spring”:

Tournament A (for chess players up to 8 and up to 10 years old) with 42 participants, 7 rounds Swiss system, 10 min + 5 sec/move, issued the following challenge five:

1. Tournament A (for chess players up to 8 and up to 10 years old) with 42 participants, 7 rounds Swiss, 10 min + 5 sec/move, issued the following five:

• up to 8 years: 1. Ivona Ruseva (CSKA) / 2. Boyan Manev (CC “Dunav 1931”) / 3. Khakan Akhmedov (SCC “Shumen”) with runners-up Boris Angelov (CC”Varna”) and Nikolay Dimitrov (CC “Kaisa”).
• up to 10 years: 1. Martin Kyosev (CSKA) / 2. Stoyan Iliev (CC “Varna”) / 3. Hanko Krastev (CC “Sinite Kamani”) with runners-up Borislav Zhelyazkov (CC Varna) and Yaroslav Ivchenko (CC “Varna”).

According to the regulations, the first five in each age group received commemorative prizes, kindly provided by “Rotary Club” – Shumen and presented by their representatives, Dr. Atanas Atanasov and adv. Daniela Ruseva.

2. Tournament B (for chess players up to 12 and up to 14 years old) with 36 participants, 5 rounds Swiss, 15 min + 10 sec/move, issued the following five:

• under 12 years: 1. Georgi Dimitrov (CSKA) / 2. Nikola Neychev (CC “Varna”) / 3. Nikolay R. Todorov (CC “Missionis”) with runners-up Kaloyan Hristev (CC “Kaisa”) and Zhivko Kaloyanov (SCC “Shumen”).
• up to 14 years: 1. Martin Kanchev (CC “EtAr”) / 2. Marin Pl. Marinov (CC “Burgas 64”) / 3. Alexander Petkov (CC “Shumen”) with runners-up Martin Valchev (Yambol) and Denis Schwenk (CC “Burgas 64”).

According to the regulations, the first five in each age group received commemoerative prizes, kindly provided by “Rotary Club” – Shumen and handed over by their representatives Mihail Varbanov and adv. Daniela Ruseva.

The executive director of the “Shumen” SCC Atanas Dimitrov thanked the “Rotary Club” – Shumen for the assistance provided. We hope that our cooperation will continue in future events. In both tournaments we had participants from Varna, Burgas, Sliven, Yambol, Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Sevlievo, Targovishte and Shumen. We thank them for honoring us with their presence and play and invite them to the next tournament of the Series, “Chess Summer”, on 24-25.06.2023.
