Yesterday and today, on 18-19.06.2022, the children’s rapid tournament “Chess Summer” was held, the second for 2022 of the “Chess Seasons” Tournament Series.
Once again, the halls of the “Shumen” Chess house turned out to be too small to accommodate all the willing participants in the „Chess seasons”; this made it necessary to divide the two tournaments in time – one each on Saturday and Sunday. Thus, in tournament A (U8 and U10, 18.06.2022, Saturday) 48 players participated, and in Tournament B (U12 and U14, 19.06.2022, Sunday) – 28 players.
As in every tournament so far, there were new participants in this one as well – both absolute beginners and new strong rivals of the already established contenders for the prizes. According to the Regulations of the „Chess seasons”, unchanged from last year, there were participation certificates for each of the competitors, the first five in each of the age groups – U8, U10, U12, and U14 – in addition to the points in the general ranking for the „Chess seasons”, also received commemorative prizes. and the first three prize-winners – gold, silver and bronze medals.
Among our representatives, Kaan Tefikov performed best – third in U14, and Norayr Shahbazyan – third in U10, Ivan Pisev – fourth in U8. Nikolay Valchanov, Ege Esmer and Zhivko Kaloyanov also performed well. We wish them even better performance in the next editions of the „Chess seasons”.
The standings for Tournament A and Tournament B, as well as the general standings for the „Chess seasons”, are attached below. The organizers express their gratitude to the participants from Shumen, Varna, Burgas, Sliven, Sofia, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Gabrovo, Ruse and Targovishte!
